Poor Little Pup

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Poor Little Pup Poor little pup dumped at night that's enough to cause some fright. Left in a run behind the pound waiting for someone to come around... Spent 3 days in a concrete run thought for sure her life was done. Thanks to rescue - people who cared her little life was finally spared. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©

Poor Little Pup

Poor little pup
dumped at night
that’s enough to
cause some fright.
Left in a run
behind the pound
waiting for someone
to come around…
Spent 3 days
in a concrete run
thought for sure
her life was done.
Thanks to rescue –
people who cared
her little life
was finally spared.

Once Upon a Time

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Once Upon a Time Dedicated to Joyce - a friend for 54 years Once upon a time long ago we started out young and thin. Life was new, everything fun always felt we could win. The years rolled by the pains and joys we needed a lot but no more toys. Friends were important our families too sometimes we wished some body parts were new. Our memories sustain us some friends remain the body feel old but the mind feels the same. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©

Once Upon a Time

Dedicated to Joyce – a friend for 54 years

Once upon a time long ago
we started out young and thin.
Life was new, everything fun
always felt we could win.
The years rolled by
the pains and joys
we needed a lot
but no more toys.
Friends were important
our families too
sometimes we wished
some body parts were new.
Our memories sustain us
some friends remain
the body feels old
but the mind feels the same.

Nothing Seems Real

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Nothing Seems Real Normally our lives are full and bright yet there are times when things aren't right. We don't understand what we see it seems somehow that life can't be. The eyes won't focus - the heart doesn't feel, when bad things happen - nothing seems real. Hold on to faith, one day at a time hope feeds the body - soul and mind. Normally our lives are full and bright
yet there are times when things aren’t right.
We don’t understand what we see

when bad things happen – nothing seems real.
Hold on to faith, one day at a time
hope feeds the body – soul and mind.

Hurricane Katrina 2005

Hurricane Katrina 2005

I watched the storm
the tragedy unfold
nothing to do
except be told.

They’re way down there
I’m way up here
they can’t hear me
shed a tear.

I heard about people
stranded and alone
no power, no water,
not even a phone.… Read the rest

Computers Looking and watching staring at the screen boy, those computers can really be mean. You press one key then go back everything's gone - just like that! Nothing easy clicking and moving messages pop up you're not grovin. Hit the help key get out a book it's finally working the hours it took! Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2005 ©

Looking and watching
staring at the screen
boy, those computers
can really be mean.
You press one key
then go back
everything’s gone –

clicking and moving
messages pop up
you’re not grovin.
Hit the help key
get out a book
it’s finally working

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Snicker Snicker Snook Snicker, snicker snook I think I'll read a little book. Have some fun, play pretend go new places, make a friend. Spend some time, curl up in a chair no batteries needed, no computer to share. Snicker, snicker snook off to read my favorite book. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2004 ©

Snicker, snicker snook
I think I’ll read a little book.
Have some fun, play pretend
go new places, make a friend.
Spend some time, curl up in a chair
no batteries needed, no computer to share.
Snicker, snicker snook
off to read my favorite book.

river flowing by
soft warm breeze

As We Age Poem by Patricia Walter

As we age
bodies change
things expand
rearrange.
Keep on moving
exercise more
happy thoughts
as good as before.

Boats on Land

Boats On Land Poem by Patricia Walter

Boats on land are very sad, really need water or they get mad.

They like to rock, they like to roll, the only way to feed their soul.

Must be launched to really be free. Share their joy with you and me.

Sweetie

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Sweetie Curled in my lap our afternoon nap a little ball of fur happy and sure. Weeks ago you wouldn't know a little lost soul nowhere to go. Alone at night no one in sight a frightened little puppy not feeling lucky. They took her to the pound she thought she was found but no on choose her no long fur. She hugged and kissed but seemed to miss finding a home a place to roam. But soon came a friend someone that could bend feeling love in her heart they just couldn't part. Sweetie

Curled in my lap
our afternoon nap
a little ball of fur
happy and sure.
Weeks ago
you wouldn’t know
a little lost soul
nowhere to go.
Alone at night
no one in sight
a frightened little puppy
not feeling lucky.
They took her to the pound
she thought she was found
but no on choose her
no long fur.
She hugged and kissed
but seemed to miss
finding a home
a place to roam.
But soon came a friend
someone that could bend
feeling love in her heart
they just couldn’t part.

Sparky

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Sparky Just like the other dogs that share my life Sparky came from the shelter not feeling quite right. Terribly sick coughing and sad still wagging his tail was really glad. He wanted someone to help and care full of affection he would openly share. Now healthy and strong full of love and joy thinks life's great he's a happy boy. The love dogs give is a gift to us especially when they've earned our trust. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2003 ©
