A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

The Joy is Ours Dogs share our lives make it complete keep us company lay at our feet. Entertain us give us joy think life is great with each new toy. A pat on the head scratch under the chin keeps them happy and we always win. The joy is ours to keep in our heart the dogs let us think we're pretty smart. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2006 ©

The Joy is Ours

Dogs share our lives
make it complete
keep us company
lay at our feet.
Entertain us
give us joy
think life is great
with each new toy.
A pat on the head
scratch under the chin
keeps them happy
and we always win.
The joy is ours
to keep in our heart
the dogs let us think
we’re pretty smart.

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Shelter Dogs You see everything in their eyes joy, hope - sadness & despair. Some are bewildered some just afraid some plain happy for a meal. A few miss home while most forget - chains, neglect and solitude. Lucky are the dogs that find new homes. But it's not up to them they have to voice it's up to you to be kind and caring. May Tomorrow Be Better

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

May Tomorrow Be Better May today be better than yesterday tomorrow better than today tow steps forward - one step back still moving toward a better way. Patience and time become a guiding light while faith and friends help make it right. Our lives move on thru happy and sad the real trick seems to forget the bad. May Tomorrow Be Better

May today be better than yesterday
tomorrow better than today
two steps forward – one step back
still moving toward a better way.
Patience and time
become a guiding light
while faith and friends
help make it right.
Our lives move on
thru happy and sad
the real trick seems
to forget the bad.

Why Do They Leave?

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterMay 13, 2019

Why Do They Leave? It doesn't make any difference their color or size most dogs are very wise. They know their limits how to please, sometimes in fun they really tease. They join our lives, fill our heart we never ever want to part. Their lives are too short for the joy they give, why do they leave and we get to Live? Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2002 ©

Why Do They Leave?

It doesn’t make any difference
their color or size
most dogs are very wise.
They know their limits
how to please, sometimes in fun
they really tease.
They join our lives, fill our heart
we never ever want to part.
Their lives are too short
for the joy they give, why do they leave
and we get to Live?

A Stroll Downtown

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

a-stroll-downtown-poem-2016Dedicated to my hometown Marietta, OH

A Stroll Downtown

Take a walk stroll downtown
check out the city, see who’s around.
See some friends, stop to talk
check out the headlines, continue to walk.
Smell fresh rolls at the bakery
only real frosting, no fakery.
Pass some new faces, a quick little Hi
not real friends, so no time for bye.
Look in the window of the antique store
same old stuff, just a bore.
Enjoy my walk, strolling down main street
clean and friendly, really neat.
Interesting display of summer shoes
tennies in white, colors and blues.
A small … Read the rest

The Nap

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterApril 7, 2018

The Nap 1

The Nap

I’m so tired, my legs weigh a ton
feel like I raced, but hadn’t won.
Tank’s on empty, energy gone
not enough breath to sing a song.
Rest for awhile, sit in my chair
close my eyes or just plain stare.
Clear my mind, take a snooze
almost as good as taking a cruise.
Having a dream, running by the sea
feeling sunshine, it’s just good to be.
Wake with a start, a little fog
look around the room – see the dog.
Let’s go for a walk, I feel so good
the nap really worked, I knew … Read the rest

Still blooming
Spring to fall
Daylilies

Standing firm
Tall and bright
Bursting buds

Two Little Pups

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

two-little-pups-2005 Two Little Pups Two little pups almost lost in time they are wroth the effort - yours and mine. Dropped off at a shelter out of sight out of mind by people not caring ignorant, not kind. But sometimes help comes so they're not left alone by email, visitors or even the phone. Not very nice to ignore the little guys - give kindness and love show humans can be wise. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©Two Little Pups

Two little pups
almost lost in time
they are wroth the effort –
yours and mine.
Dropped off at a shelter
out of sight out of mind
by people not caring
ignorant, not kind.
But sometimes help comes
so they’re not left alone
by email, visitors
or even the phone.
Not very nice
to ignore the little guys –
give kindness and love
show humans can be wise.
