Vacations are Fun

Vacations Are Fun Dog Poem by Patricia Walter

Vacations Are Fun

My ears are up
there’s a smile on my face
I’m so happy
to be back in my place.
I’ve eaten my dinner
played with the boys
even had fun
with the old chew toys.
Vacations are fun
but home is best
finally I’ll have
a little quiet and rest.

A Wonderful Gift

A Poets Corner Posted on December 15, 2019 by Patricia WalterDecember 15, 2019

A wonderful Gift Poem by Patricia WalterA Wonderful Gift

I feel a kinship
with most dogs I meet
they look in your eye
and want to greet.
Wag their tail
wiggle their butt
doesn’t matter
purebred or mutt.
Dogs share out lives
a wonderful gift
put on earth
to give man a lift.

Care for a Friend Dedicated to Shelter Dogs by Patricia Walter

Care For A Friend

Help care for a friend
find a home, help him mend.
Has a heart of gold
has to move – he’s told.
Find a place, a nice new home
where people care – he can roam.
His eyes are lonely, can’t you see
just wants love, somewhere to be.
Holds no grudges, has a happy heart
looking for a family, a brand new start.
Care for your friend, any way you can
a helping hand, a ride in a van.
Just a warm wish, tossed his way
may be all he needs to make his day.… Read the rest

Millie’s Story

A Poets Corner Posted on May 31, 2018 by Patricia WalterApril 22, 2019
Millie's Story 1Millie

She lived at the shelter
shivered and shook
I almost walked by
without giving a look.
The nice young man
reached up high
brought her out
said – give her a try.

She clung to my shoulder
held on tight
seemed so timid
had so much fright.
I brought her home
to join the gang
gave her attention
a nice new name.
It didn’t take long
the real puppy came out
she was running and barking
just wanting to shout.
Such a great friend
I’ve never had
loving and loyal
not a bit of sad.

right on my heels.
Loves to boat

Blind Dogs Have Fun Too Robbie loves to toss his ball no need for anyone else at all. Jumping and prancing he looks like he's dancing. Having fun galore he plays some more. Brothers

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Brothers Dedicated to Fritz & Sluggo Walter We were part of a littler of six girls and boys, what a mix. Taken to the shelter, no one cared squealed and shook, really scared. Fell right out of a kennel so high hit the floor, started to cry. Back leg broken, limping and sore help me quickly, x-rays and more. Emails sent, looking for a reply need someone to help, who won't ask why. Taken to the vet, my brother and I cared for, repaired, in the wink of an eye. We are fortunate someone cared while thousands more, won't be spared. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©

The New Coat Winter is coming there's a chill in the air the weatherman said you better beware. I'm not very big have short white hair Mom said I better prepare. She put on my coat I would stand and stare I looked just like a cute woolly bear. It really felt warm hangs on the chair on cold windy days it's what I wear. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2002 ©

The Joy is Ours

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

The Joy is Ours Dogs share our lives make it complete keep us company lay at our feet. Entertain us give us joy think life is great with each new toy. A pat on the head scratch under the chin keeps them happy and we always win. The joy is ours to keep in our heart the dogs let us think we're pretty smart. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2006 ©

The Joy is Ours

Dogs share our lives
make it complete
keep us company
lay at our feet.
Entertain us
give us joy
think life is great
with each new toy.
A pat on the head
scratch under the chin
keeps them happy
and we always win.
The joy is ours
to keep in our heart
the dogs let us think
we’re pretty smart.

Shelter Dogs

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Shelter Dogs You see everything in their eyes joy, hope - sadness & despair. Some are bewildered some just afraid some plain happy for a meal. A few miss home while most forget - chains, neglect and solitude. Lucky are the dogs that find new homes. But it's not up to them they have to voice it's up to you to be kind and caring. Some are bewildered
some just afraid
some plain happy for a meal.
A few miss home
while most forget –

But it’s not up to them
they have no voice
it’s up to you
to be kind and caring.
