Just Went To The Store

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 16, 2016

Just Went to the Store Just went to the store to buy some more. But it got a little tricky as I got picky. I browsed and looked through those aisles on foot. Pushing my cart but not feeling real smart. The soups were piled up but not right for my cup. The potatoes had eyes so they weren't good buys. I came to the meat thought, what should I eat? The hot dogs looked green so I knew there were mean. The chops were packed all squished in a rack. The steaks looked bold but a few days too old. So I left the store even though I wanted more. It's peanut butter and jelly always good for the belly. Poetry & Art Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Life Can Be Good

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Life Can Be Good Life can be good - life can be bad it all depends on the perspective you have. Some people you notice are always mad then there are those who are always sad. Some look up - some look down too many often choose for a frown. A smile works well - a light even better a little more effort you ignore the weather. Such simple advice given tongue in cheek can make your life what you really seek. Poetry & Graphic by Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Life Can Be Good

Life can be good – life can be bad
it all depends on the perspective you have.

Some people you notice are always mad
then there are those who are always sad.

Some look up – some look down
too many often choose for a frown.

A smile works well – a laugh even better
a little more effort you ignore the weather.

Such simple advice given tongue in cheek
can make your life what you really seek.

Beyond the Eyes

Beyond the Eyes

Eyes are often green, blue or gray
they can see so clearly along the way.

Why indeed with such vision they see
the wonder, the joy and the glee.

Yes, so often, they never really see
what’s inside, the good in me.

They only see, with short-sightedness
the soul inside, which should be caressed.

Others can help and surround with love
but it’s your eyes alone that can see above.

Above disappointments and goals not achieved
to look beyond what you think you really need.

to focus on the good, worth person inside
to accept the … Read the rest

I Want

I Want

I don’t want life to be hard and cold.
Every time you turn around
there’s a bump or bruise.
I want to be surrounded by
kindness and love
feel the soft caress of
family and friends.
I want to see happiness flowing by
while sadness drowns
and hurt washes away.
I want to see anger
and shouted harsh words
soften by care,
melted by forgiveness.
I want everyone to take time
to reflect and build
a bridge to a kinder world.

The Heart of the Poet’s Mind

A Poets Corner Posted on September 14, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

The Heart of the Poet’s Mind

There are many times that I just can’t work
my mind and heart are somewhere else.
I’m not really sure where they go
but it has no connection to the task at hand.
The words are winding in and out
while images dance on my thoughts.
I know for sure, the poet’s word
is a vision not seen by those around.
The poems are read and understood
the words so real to the naked eye.
But the world of birth is never revealed
except to the heart of the post’s mind.

The Lone Sycamore

The Lone Sycamore

She stands tall and proud
limbs long and outstretched
stripped of her veils and imagery.
Balanced and poisded
rooted in her purpose
beautifully naked against the
winter gray sky.
Does man stand as tall
against the winter of his life
stripped of youth, of airs,
no disguise to hide behind?
Is his purpose as rooted
as balanced, as proud
as Nature’s majestic Sycamore?

Touched by Beauty

Touched by Beauty

We all want to be touched
by wonderful music, beautiful art,
love of our fellow man.
To be moved, drawn,
taken to places unknown.
To feel an overwhelming chill
from a beautiful orchestral phrase,
to be filled with warmth and joy
from the color of a canvas,
to feel the wonder from
touching the creativity of mankind.
How music, art and poetry
cause such emotion is unknown,
but we all know when we are there-
what a cold world it would be without
the beauty of music, art, poetry and love.

The Raging Storm of Life

A Poets Corner Posted on September 14, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

The Raging Storm of Life

Our lives are as fleeting
as a snow storm in March.
Raging wind, pellets of ice,
blankets of clouds graying the day.
The calm, the beauty, the serenity,
the glow of the fresh, innocent snow.
So alive, so compelling, so now in time –
so quickly forgotten.
Is our purpose in life to leave behind
cold legacies and monuments in stone
or take with us the beauty
the serenity and the glow.

Why does man feel he must be immortal?
Leave his mark on the world.
Most of the time, his mark should be erased… Read the rest

Life is Like a River

Life is Like a River 1

Life is Like a River

Life is like a river, with all its twists and turns.
Just when you think the sailing is smooth
a storm sets your life in turmoil.
Whether a flood of turbulent trouble
or a drought of boredom and unrest
our lives seem to flow with an unknown current.
We are sure we know the course we are on
but in the time it takes to draw a new breath
we no long know where we are.
it seems the way has been flooded with conflict
we are no longer secure in the path we have … Read the rest

Happiness

Happiness 2

Happiness

It is such a joy to feel really happy.
Your heart sings, your feet dance
your mind sways in the wind.
The world is light
you float on a breeze.
The world moves
to the rhythm of your joy
every note is sung
with the voice of contentment.

The Real Secret

The Real Secret

The pain of loneliness, hurt and fear.
Feeling disconnected from the world.
All emotions we wish we never had
But most of us, at sometime in our lives, end up in such a state.
We are not always sure how we got there
we don’t know how long we are going to stay
and most of us don’t know where the next stop is going to be.
The worst part of living in a depressed state
is the feeling that it is unique to yourself.
The human condition seems to allow us to hurtle ourselves
off a … Read the rest

Will I Ever Find the Way

Will I Ever Find the Way 3

Will I Ever Find The Way?

Sometimes I just don’t know
where I am going or what I want.
How can a person
who seems so blessed be so lost?
What unrest is planted in my heart?
Where do the seeds
of unhappiness come from?
Surely they are not sown at birth.
I know the secret of happiness
a truth deep in my soul –
to love, to care, be kind and gentle.
Yet I stray so far from
the path of contentment.
Is it a life long search to find the way?
Will I ever find the way?… Read the rest
