Millie
She lived at the shelter
shivered and shook
I almost walked by
without giving a look.
The nice young man
reached up high
brought her out
said – give her a try.
She clung to my shoulder
held on tight
seemed so timid
had so much fright.
I brought her home
to join the gang
gave her attention
a nice new name.
It didn’t take long
the real puppy came out
she was running and barking
just wanting to shout.
Such a great friend
I’ve never had
loving and loyal
not a bit of sad.
