Spring and Fall
Spring and Fall
Can we ever say enough
about spring or fall?
Growth and renewal
Memories and rest
Cycles of nature
Seasons of life

Lays in my lap
sleeps on my bed
best little buddy
I ever had.
Barks a tune
shares my meals
always follows
right on my heels.
Loves to boat
camper extreme
greets everyone
never mean.
Once a lost soul
found his way here
now happy and healthy
nothing to fear.

We Usually Know
We usually know what will happen
We are going to do this or that
We are going to go back and forth
We are going to be here or there
We are going to live up or down
We are going to feel happy or sad
Until we find out we really don’t know.

Blind Dogs Have Fun Too
Robbie loves to toss his ball
no need for anyone else at all.
Jumping and prancing
he looks like he’s dancing.
Having fun galore
he plays some more.
Find another new toy
no – playing ball is his joy.
Taking time for a rest
still loves his ball the best.
Dedicated to Robbie – Blind but no Handicap

Summertime
Thought I’d take the summer off, get a little exercise – play some golf.
Paint a little, write a poem, walk the dog, be alone.
Take a trip, drive by car, get away, maybe go far.
Time to think, wonder what’s right, stare at the stars on a summer night.
Visit some friends, walk the beach, anything’s possible, nothing out of reach.
A few long weekends with my mate, a lot of laughs, things are great.
Have friends over, a cookout or two, it’s summertime – impossible to feel blue.
Warm summer days, fireflies at night, what a … Read the rest
Goodbye Friend
Memories
linger in thought.
Love
still warms the heart.
Joy
connects the past.
Tears
blur the present.
Faith
promises reunion in the future.

Brothers
Dedicated to Fritz & Sluggo Walter
We were part of a littler of six
girls and boys, what a mix.
Taken to the shelter, no one cared
squealed and shook, really scared.
Fell right out of a kennel so high
hit the floor, started to cry.
Back leg broken, limping and sore
help me quickly, x-rays and more.
Emails sent, looking for a reply
need someone to help, who won’t ask why.
Taken to the vet, my brother and I
cared for, repaired, in the wink of an eye.
We are fortunate someone cared
while thousands more, won’t be … Read the rest
The New Coat
Winter is coming
there’s a chill in the air
the weatherman said
you better beware.
I’m not very big
have short white hair
Mom said
I better prepare.
She put on my coat
I would stand and stare
I looked just like
a cute woolly bear.
It really felt warm
hangs on the chair
on cold windy days
it’s what I wear.
