A Real Nice Day

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterJanuary 5, 2019

A real nice day to idle time away. Soft blue skies offer no disguise. A gentle breeze to do as you please. Friendly warm sun no reason to run. fields of grass nothing moving fast. A real nice day things going my way. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter ©

A real nice day
to idle time away.
Soft blue skies

A gentle breeze
to do as you please.
Friendly warm sun
no reason to run.

Dirty Dishes

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterMarch 20, 2019

Dirty Dishes Did you ever notice how dirty dishes are often as plentiful as a wealthy man's riches. Where do they come from, who was invited to dinner? They're piled up like trophies to be given to the winner. We wash them and scrub them, it never seems to end put them away - they're back again! Such resilience and stayng power, they never give up they persist to be our friends, down to the last cup. So we might as well welcome the dirty dishes again the happy times shared and the friends we've had in. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Dust Bunnies

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 16, 2016

Dust Bunnies Who are those dust bunnies that always stop by every time I turn around they seem to multiply. What creatures of endurance persistence is their name hiding under beds their real claim to fame. You chase them, you grab them you shoo them outside, you turn around and they've not complied. How do they do that those innocent creatures that invade every home, become the main features. Let them live quiely under your bed, maybe the'll go away if they're not fed. Just Went To The Store

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 16, 2016

Just Went to the Store Just went to the store to buy some more. But it got a little tricky as I got picky. I browsed and looked through those aisles on foot. Pushing my cart but not feeling real smart. The soups were piled up but not right for my cup. The potatoes had eyes so they weren't good buys. I came to the meat thought, what should I eat? The hot dogs looked green so I knew there were mean. The chops were packed all squished in a rack. The steaks looked bold but a few days too old. So I left the store even though I wanted more. It's peanut butter and jelly always good for the belly. Poetry & Art Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Life Can Be Good

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Life Can Be Good Life can be good - life can be bad it all depends on the perspective you have. Some people you notice are always mad then there are those who are always sad. Some look up - some look down too many often choose for a frown. A smile works well - a light even better a little more effort you ignore the weather. Such simple advice given tongue in cheek can make your life what you really seek. Poetry & Graphic by Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Just A Cat

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 15, 2019

Just a Cat poem by Patricia Walter

Just a Cat

She is – just a cat.
A very small presence
doesn’t take up much space.
Large green eyes
much too big for her face.
She is – just a friend.
Happy to be greeting you
while purring a quiet tune
improving how you feel
and never too soon.
She is – just a joy.
Guarding windows
sleeping on the bed
chasing unseen ghosts
until she’s fed.
She is – just yours.
No other will do
her choice is clear
with anyone else
she would just disappear.

The Business of Being Cat

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterJanuary 4, 2019

The Business of Being Cat Cat’s don’t go out with the dogs. It’s not their business to bark, jump and be crazy. Their business, those cats – to sit, stare, sleep all day. To prove who is really the center of the universe. To break the silence of night with frightful sounds to demand a snack when dinner’s been served. Standing guard at windows sleeping in the sun watching clouds float by important business for those cats. Original Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000©

A Dog’s Business

A Dog's Business 1

A Dog’s Business

That is the business of being dog –
to bark, to get dirty feet, to give sloppy kisses.
To always be there at your feet
in your bed, by your side.
In the car, in the park, in your heart.
That is the business of being dog –
a companion, a friend
one who thinks you and your alone
are the center of their universe.

Misery

A Poets Corner Posted on September 15, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 15, 2016

Misery

How much misery can there really be?
From the heart, from the mind,
from a friend, from the mirror.

Can misery reside so deep inside
no one else can see or understand.
Is it a permanent scarring
or the swing of a mood.
Depends on the kind of friend it is.

Friend, if that’s all you know.
It controls, it holds,
a warm place to lie down in.
You can always count on it,
know it will be there
It takes so little effort to call it home.

Its hold so deep, there can be no intrusion
from help, … Read the rest

Beyond the Eyes

Beyond the Eyes

Eyes are often green, blue or gray
they can see so clearly along the way.

Why indeed with such vision they see
the wonder, the joy and the glee.

Yes, so often, they never really see
what’s inside, the good in me.

They only see, with short-sightedness
the soul inside, which should be caressed.

Others can help and surround with love
but it’s your eyes alone that can see above.

Above disappointments and goals not achieved
to look beyond what you think you really need.

to focus on the good, worth person inside
to accept the … Read the rest

I Want

I Want

I don’t want life to be hard and cold.
Every time you turn around
there’s a bump or bruise.
I want to be surrounded by
kindness and love
feel the soft caress of
family and friends.
I want to see happiness flowing by
while sadness drowns
and hurt washes away.
I want to see anger
and shouted harsh words
soften by care,
melted by forgiveness.
I want everyone to take time
to reflect and build
a bridge to a kinder world.

The Heart of the Poet’s Mind

A Poets Corner Posted on September 14, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

The Heart of the Poet’s Mind

There are many times that I just can’t work
my mind and heart are somewhere else.
I’m not really sure where they go
but it has no connection to the task at hand.
The words are winding in and out
while images dance on my thoughts.
I know for sure, the poet’s word
is a vision not seen by those around.
The poems are read and understood
the words so real to the naked eye.
But the world of birth is never revealed
except to the heart of the post’s mind.
