An Idea

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 17, 2016

An Idea I have great fun, writing on the run. An idea flashes by, who knows why? I write a few lines then add a few rhymes. A story will be told, a lesson will unfold. Add a grin and a smile, folks will read for awhile. Ponder a thought, wonder why give them courage to go out and try. Ideas from the heart, thoughts from the mind encouragement and help for folks to find. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Peanut Butter

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterMarch 20, 2019

Peanut Butter Peanut butter is fun and gooey some people think that's just plain hooey. They don't understand the joy of the spread smear it with jelly on your favorite bread. Too silly for grown up, it's just kids stuff they frown and growl in a great big juff. The've just lost touch with the joys of youth they must be served in a restaurant booth. No frills or china required my friend doesn't cost a bundle, no rules to bend. Enjoy a sandwich, use a napkin or two with peanut butter and jelly you never feel blue! I Like to Sing, I Like to Hum

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 17, 2016

I Like to Sing, I Like to Hum Sometimes I sing, sometimes I hum people say - I've been in the rum. I like to laugh, I like to grin people think I was drinking again. I tell a story or tell a joke all I had was a nice cold Coke. The happiness and joy I like to display is just because I'm made that way. I don't need a drink to give happiness a start all I need lives right in my heart. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000 ©I Like to Sing, I Like to Hum

The Job Interview

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 17, 2016

The Job Interview

Only time will tell
if I do swell.
I’ll sweat and wait
try to anticipate.
Look happy and bright
want to do right.
Answer questions right quick
hope the answers will click.
My experience is good
I better knock on wood.
The job will be mine
I hope it’s divine!

May There Always be Unicorns

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 17, 2016

May There Always be Unicorns May there always be unicorns in your heart and dreams although there are those who don't believe it seems. A rainbow, good luck the tooth fairy and Easter Bunny they all make us smile act a little funny. Santa, hobbits angels and fairies can't seem to touch them but our faith never varies. Keep dreams in your heart let unicorns run free all the joys of the world will be yours to see. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000 ©

Jello

A Poets Corner Posted on September 17, 2016 by Patricia WalterMarch 20, 2019

Jello I like jello, red or yellow Put it in the sun, it could be a puddle. It laughs and wiggles, dances and jiggles better be careful it brings on giggles. It tries to escape with every move it makes eat it with a spoon or anything it takes. It glistens and ripples like flowing rivers dancing about it really quivers. The Band

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 16, 2016

The Band Some play trumpet, some play saxophone, there are those in back, that stand alone. There are wooden clarinets and shiny flutes, oboes and bassons, with some different toots. Those in the back, roll on the snares, sometimes they're loud and get lots of stares. There are brass trombones with big long slides, they ump and pa, with long slow glides. They're heavy and curved, those great big basses, never in a hurry, couldn't go to the races. Last, but not least, someone leads the band, starts and stops with only a hand. An unusual colleciton of instruments and drums, makes wonderful music that everyone hums. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000

Should I Work?

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Should I Work? I'm really in a rut and feeling blue maybe I need a job, just like you. Get up a 6, take a shower and eat get ready for work, I'm already beat. Hop in the car, hurry and wait feel like a race horse, dancing at the gate. Finally get to work, arriving too late my c-workers stare, I think I'm bait. Make it till 10, then take a little break here some the boss, can I stay a little late? Of course I can, put a smile on y face I know what to do, I know my place. A typcial day, a few bucks earned I feel like butter, that's already churned. Take home my check, the pittance that's left I feel like I'm robbed, surely it's grand theft. So maybe I'll stay home and not feel so blue I don't want this story to ever come true.

All Windows – No Doors

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterJanuary 5, 2019

All Windows - No Doors All windows, no doors. too many people look out never invite love to come in. Theyy gather together a meaningless mass sharing their beautiful shapes. Only images can be seen frames of cold steel, panes of glass. Where are the doors? Are they bolted and locked closed by fear and hate? The curtains are drawn only reflections are seen. No way to enter all windows, no doors. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000

Hope Your Day Goes Well

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 16, 2016

Hope Your Day Goes Well

Just a little note
I thought, then wrote.
Hope the morning goes quick
nothing complicated, no trick.
Lunch will be fun
a sandwich, a little sun.
No afternoon snags
a little slow, maybe drags.
Five o’clock is near
a small sigh, a little cheer.
Hope your day goes well
no more to tell.

A Gray Rainy Day

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterFebruary 12, 2019

A Grey Rainy Day

A Gray Rainy Day

It’s a gray rainy day
the flowers and trees
need rain, so they say.
I want sun
bright and cheery
warm and fun.
But sometimes my need
must take a back seat
not look like greed.
The world is complex
I’m not a lone
I’m not always next.
I have patience, really care
feel the warmth of the rain
know how to share.

Early Spring

A Poets Corner Posted on September 16, 2016 by Patricia WalterFebruary 12, 2019

Early Spring

Early Spring

Early Spring is such a tease
enticing all to do as they please.
A day of sunshine – a day or rain
temperatures warming, no need to complain.
Trees budding, flowers in bloom
time for a walk, no need for gloom.
Winter gone, summer on the way
early Spring, a joy each day.
