Great Big Eyes
Great Big Eyes
Great big eyes – almost looks wise
Flopping ears – brings on cheers
Great big bark – makes him sound smart
Sloppy wet kisses – good doggie wishes

Take A Springer Home
If you want a friend
take a Springer home.
Add a little love
you’ll never be alone.
The love they share
they joy they give –
makes your life
the way to live.

Blind Dogs
Blind dogs
have fun too
we even adapt
to things that are new.
Don’t need eyes
we see with our heart
that’s because
we’re pretty smart.
Love to give kisses
big hugs too
eyes aren’t needed
to love
through and through.

A Really Great Dog
We each have a breed
that we hold dear
but it actually comes down
to the dog we’re near.
Short hair or long
skinny or round
it’s the heart of the dog
that we truly found.
some jump and bark
others sit and stare
no matter their actions
we always care.
Makes no difference
their family tree
a really great dog
is all you see.

Chip
My name is Chip
cause I’m so chipper
dumped at the pound
when no on was around.
I’m a senior
half blind and scratching
infection in my ears
but I shed no tears.
I’m friendly and happy
love people and dogs
just want a nice home
where I won’t be alone.
Thank goodness for rescue
I’ll have a family real soon
with people who care
and love to share.

Annie
Left alone at the shelter
she shivered and shook
didn’t care about eating
or how she would look.
Thrust into darkness
eyes crusted shut
a matted ball of fur
probably just a mutt.
She had no love
was lonely and cold
wasn’t there someone
that could be told?
Along came a family
who wanted to share
finally found a new home
with love and care.

A True Friendship
A crumb from the donut
a piece of toast
that’s all it takes
no need to boast.
A scratch on the ear
a pat on the head
a quiet “good doggies”
no more said.
A walk in the park
a ride in the car
no need to go fast
no need to go far.
Always there
happy and content
a tried and true friendship
no need to invent.

Buddy
Funny long nose
deep brown eyes
raises his paw
almost looks wise.
Strange little ears
not up not down
a kind loving critter
always around.
Found in the street
clear to see
no tag, no collar
he belongs to me.

Millie
She lived at the shelter, shivered and shook
I almost walked by without giving a look.
the nice young man reached up high
brought her out, said – give her a try.
She clung to my shoulder, held on tight
seemed so timid, had so much fright.
I brought her home to join the gang
gave her attention, a nice new name.
It didn’t take long, the real puppy came out
she was running, barking , just wanting to shout.
Such a great friend I never had
loving and loyal, not a bit sad.

Life is Fun
Sometimes we run with our tails in the air
Other times we better beware
Life is fun, changes each day
It often pays to watch what we say

Happy Signs
The wiggle of an ear
just as you near
A tilt of the head
from something you said
Tail wagging – making a breeze
a sure sign you really please
Jump up turn around
happy signs without a sound.

Molly
We don’t know how old she is
or where she was born.
One ear has been injured
her teeth quite worn.
Her heart consumes her total being
the love and joy you can’t help seeing.
She nuzzles and licks, hugs and talks
goes absolutely crazy if you speak of walks.
She lived at the shelter in a dirty old cage
the lonely conditions brought no rage.
She shares her love and brings us joy
she needs nothing more – not even a toy!
