Why Do They Leave?

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterMay 13, 2019

Why Do They Leave? It doesn't make any difference their color or size most dogs are very wise. They know their limits how to please, sometimes in fun they really tease. They join our lives, fill our heart we never ever want to part. Their lives are too short for the joy they give, why do they leave and we get to Live? Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2002 ©

Why Do They Leave?

It doesn’t make any difference
their color or size
most dogs are very wise.
They know their limits
how to please, sometimes in fun
they really tease.
They join our lives, fill our heart
we never ever want to part.
Their lives are too short
for the joy they give, why do they leave
and we get to Live?

Dogs Share Our Lives

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Dogs Share Our Lives Dog share our lives, make them complete keep us company, lay at our feet. Entertain us, give us joy think life is great, with each new toy. A pat on the head, a scratch under the chin keeps them happy, and we always win. The joy is ours, to keep in our heart the dogs let us think, we're pretty smart. Two Little Pups

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

two-little-pups-2005 Two Little Pups Two little pups almost lost in time they are wroth the effort - yours and mine. Dropped off at a shelter out of sight out of mind by people not caring ignorant, not kind. But sometimes help comes so they're not left alone by email, visitors or even the phone. Not very nice to ignore the little guys - give kindness and love show humans can be wise. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©Two Little Pups

Two little pups
almost lost in time
they are wroth the effort –
yours and mine.
Dropped off at a shelter
out of sight out of mind
by people not caring
ignorant, not kind.
But sometimes help comes
so they’re not left alone
by email, visitors
or even the phone.
Not very nice
to ignore the little guys –
give kindness and love
show humans can be wise.

Poor Little Pup

A Poets Corner Posted on September 23, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 23, 2016

Poor Little Pup Poor little pup dumped at night that's enough to cause some fright. Left in a run behind the pound waiting for someone to come around... Spent 3 days in a concrete run thought for sure her life was done. Thanks to rescue - people who cared her little life was finally spared. Poetry & Photo by Patricia Walter 2005 ©

Poor little pup
dumped at night
that’s enough to
cause some fright.
Left in a run
behind the pound
waiting for someone
to come around…
Spent 3 days
in a concrete run
thought for sure
her life was done.
Thanks to rescue –
people who cared
her little life
was finally spared.

Sweetie

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Sweetie Curled in my lap our afternoon nap a little ball of fur happy and sure. Weeks ago you wouldn't know a little lost soul nowhere to go. Alone at night no one in sight a frightened little puppy not feeling lucky. They took her to the pound she thought she was found but no on choose her no long fur. She hugged and kissed but seemed to miss finding a home a place to roam. But soon came a friend someone that could bend feeling love in her heart they just couldn't part. Sparky

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Sparky Just like the other dogs that share my life Sparky came from the shelter not feeling quite right. Terribly sick coughing and sad still wagging his tail was really glad. He wanted someone to help and care full of affection he would openly share. Now healthy and strong full of love and joy thinks life's great he's a happy boy. The love dogs give is a gift to us especially when they've earned our trust. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2003 ©

She Never Came Home

Adopted in heart and mind alone
because she really
never came home.
Saved from the shelter
sick and thin
trying to get her well again.
Time at the vets
a few visits alone
a week went by
but she never came home.
they treated and bathed her
the sad eyes shone
but her time was up
she wasn’t alone.

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 31, 2018

Charlie The black and white spaniel Charlie, Chuck or Chas he's always smiling it's a little grin that he has. A stray at large tossed in a truck ends up at the shelter not good luck. He's so much trouble barking and complaining the staff ignores him only a few days remaining. No one cares he's coughing and sick tries to look cute but he's no ones pick. He caught Pat's eye gave big we kisses he really worked hard to convey his wishes. On the road to recovery he went to the vet soon a member of the family she's glad they met. A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Are We Brothers? Are we brothers or related somehow? It's not really important we have homes now. Lived at the shelter no choice in the matter as days went by we each got sadder. Share the same story how lost dogs feel will we ever be loved eat another nice meal? Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2003 ©

how lost dogs feel
will we ever be loved

Our Little Katie

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Our Little Katie Hobbling around from room to room Katie moves like a little raccoon. She barks and plays just like the rest trying to keep up and doing her best. Her legs are crooked and wobble a bit so she often just watches and likes to sit. We thought she was injured from an accident but the vets are sure she was born with legs bent. So we love her, keep her as part of our pack she thinks life is great and that's a fact. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2004 ©

Nothing But Love

A Poets Corner Posted on September 22, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 22, 2016

Nothing But Love Sometimes you just can't tell - what they are it's just as well. Mom's ears Dad's tail Grandma's spots Grandpa's wail! Put together in a very strange way you look hard but no one can say. Trying to guess you look in their eyes find nothing but love it's no disguise. Sometimes
you just can’t tell –
what they are
it’s just as well.
Mom’s ears
Dad’s tail
Grandma’s spots
Grandpa’s wail!
Put together
in a very strange way
you look hard
but no one can say.
Trying to guess
you look in their eyes
find nothing but love
it’s no disguise.
