What Are Friends For? What are friends for? To laugh with To giggle with to share your little corner of the world with. The joy to visit over lunch, over tea to share little secrets discuss life’s problems. The freedom, the closeness the bond of friendship. Open hearts, open minds just kind sharing. That’s what friends are for! Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 1999 ©
Please Be Kind To The Animals Please be kind to the animals they really are God’s creatures, too. Put here on earth to live free with nature not intended to live in a cage. The animals have no anger or hate they have no fear of man. The lessons learned are not from a book but from a kind, caring Mother and Dad. They learn respect and getting along lessons they never forget. Survival comes first, but they still feel joy and pleasures from sweet Mother Earth. Please be kind to the animals give them room to roam let them be themselves not as man would want them to be. Original Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 1998 ©
Hush of the Rain I am gently wakened by the hush of the rain the whispers from God. The gray morning goes unnoticed quiet sounds touch my soul. Nothing harsh to the ears the lightning long tamed. I am awakened, surrounded by a gentleness known to few. Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 2000 ©
My Old Sneakers My old sneakers look abused that's because they've really been used. They've traveled are and traveled near if you listen closely, many stories you'll hear. They've walked the roads, tracked thru grass sometimes sloww and sometimes fast. I'll miss my friends when they're thrown away I hear them wish that they could stay. Wally, The Walrus My name is Wally the Walrus I have never ridden on a crowded school bus. I float around on chunks of ice because I think it feels really nice. Sometimes I sit on cold, gray rocks but I have no need for thick wool socks. My tusks are long – big and white I always brush them every night. I am proud on my tusks and how they look I think I’ll have my picture took! Poetry & Art by Patricia Walter 1999 ©
The Joy of Love Love and devotion are one as the earth and sky are one. Neither exists without the other. May you be blessed with the infinite joy from such a love. Original Poetry & Painting by Patricia Walter 1999©

A Kangaroo

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

A Kangaroo

A kangaroo hops, a kangaroo jumps
that’s how she gets over all the bumps.
She carries her baby around in a pouch
but baby never has to cry out “Ouch”
Mom is careful and makes a good home
so baby roo is never alone.

She jumps high in the air to go anywhere
her legs so strong she can jump all day long.
You probably won’t see a kangaroo at your house
she would be a lot bigger than a little mouse!
Australia is home for a kangaroo
or maybe you could see one in the zoo.

The Elephant

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

The Elephant

The elephant’s wide, the elephant’s big
when he walk along, he doesn’t do a jig.
His trunk is long and wiggly, too
and sometimes he doesn’t live in a zoo.

His trunk hangs down
and touches the ground
yet, sometimes it almost reaches the sky.
He’s even been know
to eat a lemon meringue pie.

His color is gray, he hasn’t much hair
he’s really very nice and we all should care.
So next time you meet an elephant on the street
you will already know that he is really sweet!

Giraffes

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Giraffes are tall, sl long and linky, they never have a need for a big white hanky.

Giraffes

Giraffes are tall, so long and lanky
they never have a need for a big white hanky.
Their heads are high, way up in the sky
they watch pretty clouds as the pass them by.

If they need a drink, they don’t go to the sink
they reach way down, till they touch the ground
lap up the water, like a good giraffes oughter.

They have knobby long legs shaped like pegs
and look like they’re walking on stilts, not legs.
They run really fast and never are last
so you better not race with a long tall giraffe
or he’ll be the one who has the last laugh!

Sunday Morning

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

sunday-morning

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning, the snow is falling
time to stay snuggled in bed.
Pull up the covers
drift back to sleep.
The dog wants out, the cat’s purring
time to care for the family.
Turn up the heat
fill the kettle with water.
Sip tea from a pretty glass mug
watch snow flakes cover the yard.
Sunday morning becomes a holiday!
A quiet celebration of life.

Run With The Wind

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterJanuary 5, 2019

Run With The Wind

Run with the wind-
dare to catch your dreams.
Life is exciting, life is challenging.
Run with your head up
your heart filled with faith
and the roadblocks will fall.
Dream the impossible
do the impossible!
Run with the wind,
live your dreams.

My Love For You

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterMarch 20, 2019

My Love For You

As wind , rain and mist block the rising sun
we know in our hearts it’s always there.
My love for you,
not always visible through the mist of daily work,
disappointments or sorrow,
is always there.
A shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold,
a warm heart that cares.

An Impolite Cat

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterJanuary 4, 2019
An Impolite Cat - original cat poetry and art by Patricia WalterAn Impolite Cat
What’s for dinner?
Let me outside.
Get out of my chair!
Such demands from
an impolite cat.
She often forgets please,
may I and Thank You,
but purrs a happy tune
for all the tings you do.
She’ll lay on your feet
snuggle in your lap
keep you company
on long, dark nights.
A friend indeed
that impolite cat.

Be At Peace With Yourself

Be At Peace With Yourself

Be at peace with yourself
be at peace with the world.
Let your anger, hurt and problems of the day
go down with the sun each night.
Let joy, happiness and hope
rise in your heart with the sun each morning.
Be at peace with yourself
be at peace in your world.

My Friend From Long Ago

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 15, 2016

My Friend From Long Ago

He sits so quietly, never moving an inch
wondering why we don’t play anymore.
Being a wife with children on my own
leaves so little time to visit my friend.
Once in awhile I take him down
give him a hug and tell him my woes.
He listens intently with fuzzy, worn ears
watches with round button eyes,
tries to hug with matted old paws.
But time is short, there are errands to do
so Teddy goes back on the shelf.
He sits so quietly, he waits so patiently
my friend from long ago.

Window of Time

A Poets Corner Posted on September 13, 2016 by Patricia WalterSeptember 15, 2016

window-of-time-1999

Window of Time

She sits at the window
frozen in time.
What does she really see?
Ghosts from the past
a thousand years old
creatures we don’t understand.
Tail twitching, body poised
not moving an inch
mesmerized by the world outside.
A quiet little mouse,
white tailed deer,
or shadows from wind blown trees.
I look, I stare
but I just don’t see
the view from cat’s eyes so intense.
Hours pass, the cat stands guard,
sky bleeding night black to dawn gray.
Night after night
at the window of time
what stories unfold out of sight?

Be Happy, Not Perfect

A Poets Corner Posted on September 12, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

Be Happy, Not Perfect

There is no such things as perfect.
Where did the word come from?
The perfect husband, the perfect job
the perfect house, the perfect marriage.

We are all human, living in a human world.
Most are nice, sincere, loving, even kind.
But perfect causes such unhappiness.

Perfect is unreal, untouchable.
Accept good, well done and wonderful.
Do your best, be your best.
There is no such things as perfect.
Be happy, not perfect.

To Do or To Be

A Poets Corner Posted on September 12, 2016 by Patricia WalterDecember 9, 2019

To Do or To Be

To be is often crowed out by to do.
To do the dishes, to do the washing, to do the lawn.
To do is so loud, so active, so high energy,
that to be is often forgotten.

Life becomes meaningless acts of to do without to be.
To be quiet, to be with self,
to be with Spirit, to be with God.

To be gives great meaning to life.
To be is the connection with a greater Spirit.
To be gives hope, serenity and joy.
