Welcome to A Poet’s Corner
Previously The Six Dog Studio
The Six Dog Studio was my original website I developed in 1999. It featured many of my paintings and photos. Since then, I have written a large number of poems about animals, cats, dogs, friends, love, life and nature. So A Poets Corner was developed to feature all my work, both past and present. I became an artist when I was fifty years old and painted about 450 paintings. Each painting seemed to be telling me a story, so I started to write poetry about the paintings. I have a large collection of poetry and I hope you enjoy reading my poems.

Patricia Walter’s Story
About Patricia Walter – Poet, Artist and Musician
Pat and Sweetie and Pat with PJ
People always ask me – “Have you done this all your life”? It didn’t make any difference what stage of life I was at, it is always the same question. If you are wondering, “Have I Done This All My Life”, I will tell you if you have a little time. I have tried many endeavors during my 78 years of life, as most people have. My interests have usually been in the arts, so they show more openly than other peoples hobbies and passions. … Read the rest
The Poppies
The Poppies
The sun is bright
the day feels right
poppies in bloom
more flowers soon
Spring is here, summer is near

I’ll Finally Be There
I’ll Finally Be There
I guess I look like a bag of bones
skin’s all wrinkled, my eyes just stare.
I sit so still, hardly moving at all
quiet as a mouse in my old wheelchair.
Inside my head memories come and go
I try to think does someone care?
I’m all alone, no family left
the end must be near, I better prepare.
There must be a place
where my friends have gone
I know it’s not here, but not sure where.
My eyes can’t see, but my heart will know
when I’m gone from the nursing home
I’ll … Read the rest
Leaves
Floating feathers
finely framed
tumbling twirling
timely tamed
slowly setting silent sleuths
resting regal
on rainy roofs

The Sunnyside of Darkness
There’s a sunnyside of darkness
beyond the black of night
a place to feel some comfort
where everything feels just right.
It’s not found by looking
or call on the phone
it comes from inner faith
knowing you’re not alone.

Life Changes
Life Changes
Life changes
goes up and down
you never know
until it comes around.
We try to smile
thru good and bad
depend on friends
to keep away sad.
The journey is long
the road is rough
faith and hope
will be enough.
don’t waste a day
in anger or regret
keep joy in your hear
your needs will be met.

The Highest Mountain
The highest mountain we ever climb
is not during our lifetime
it is at the end of our longest journey
it is never planned or anxiously awaited
it is traveled alone without family or friends
yet surrounded by love, kindness and caring.

Moonlight
How bright the light on a full moon night
mysterious and clear, the moon looks so near.
The shades are down but I can see all around
natures light is so bright, I have no fright.
I peak outside, look up high
I wonder how and wonder why?

A Rainbow
You see a rainbow in the sky
don’ ask how, don’t ask why.
Enjoy the beauty that you see
before it’s gone, quickly set free.

Summer Time
Summer Time
Thought I’d take the summer off
get a little exercise, play some golf.
Pain a little, write a poem
walk the dog, be alone.
Time to think, wonder what’s right
stare at the stars on a summer night.
visit some friends, walk the beach
anything’s possible, nothing out of reach.
Warm summer days, fireflies at night
a wonderful time -everything is right.

Do You Ever Feel Sad?
Do You Ever Feel Sad?
Do you ever feel sad on a rainy day
the gray old clouds just feel that way.
The sun doesn’t shine, the sky is dark
the birds aren’t singing, the dogs don’t bark.
The flowers are droopy, look a little beat
not bright and shiny, nice and neat.
Your heart feels heavy, a little down
not much of a smile, almost a frown.
But there’s always hope, the sun will shine
the sky will clear, just a matter of time.
don’t feel blue as the drops fall down
they make a promise as they hit … Read the rest
